We are aware that the White House website advises foreign nationals interested in visiting the White House to contact their Embassy for assistance with tour arrangements. However, the Embassy is does not organize White House tours for tourism purposes due to strict security requirements for visitors that make such arrangements unfeasible. We appreciate your understanding.
While in-person tours to the White House are highly restricted, there are other meaningful ways to experience this historic site. It is possible to explore the White House through its official virtual tour, which offers an in-depth, interactive look at many of its most iconic rooms and features. Additionally, we recommend a visit to the People´s House: A White House Experience, located at 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. This Visitor Center offers exhibits, artifacts, and a short film that provide rich historical context and insight into life at the White House and the role it plays in the U.S. government.
In addition, visitors may wish to explore the U.S. Capitol, which offers free admission. Guided tours can be reserved in advance at http://tours.visitthecapitol.gov. For additional information, please visit the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center website: https://www.aoc.gov/capitol-buildings/us-capitol-visitor-center.
Great news – most museums in Washington, D.C. and the Library of Congress do not charge admission and cover a wide array of subjects, including art, history and science. The majority of museums are located along the National Mall and are easily accessible by Metro, with nearby stations including “Smithsonian” and “Archives.”
Please note that tours of the Pentagon are only available to U.S. citizens.
Thank you for your interest and understanding. Enjoy your visit to Washington D.C.!
