Tomorrow 8 October, Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu will meet with the Secretary of State of the United States of America Mike Pompeo in Washington, D.C. At the meeting, the ministers will discuss security and defence issues and the Three Seas Initiative. The Foreign Minister will also meet the U.S. national security adviser Robert O’Brien to discuss cyber and security cooperation.
“The relations of Estonia and the United States, both bilaterally as well as in international organisations, have always been excellent. We would like to further enhance these relations, especially in the area of security and defence,” Foreign Minister Reinsalu said before the visit, adding that Estonia and other Baltic States greatly appreciate the military presence of the United States in our region.
The Foreign Minister will give a speech at an event organised by The Heritage Foundation, focusing on transatlantic cooperation and security, and he will also attend a round table on Russia. The Foreign Minister will also participate in the round table organised by the Atlantic Council that focuses on the Three Seas Initiative and its summit to be held in Estonia next year.
